1) The Fratellis, last Wednesday, Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Was lucky enough to see them with
paiger1218. Absolutely, totally, amazingly rocked. Am a bit in love with them now. Most highest praise to Paige for finding out about the concert. *snuggles her*
2) Found out that one of my favorite books as an adolescent, High Wizardry by Diane Duane, has a deliberate Doctor Who cameo in there. See here for more details: http://www.youngwizards.com/ErrantryWiki/index.php/Man_In_The_Bar%2C_the. There was major squeals of glee going on. If I wasn't so lazy at the moment I'd dig out the book from the bottom of my shelf (which is crammed behind the arm of the couch, hence the acrobatics required to reach the bottom shelf) to re-read that scene.
That's all. Sleep would be a wise idea right now, since I spend the last hour and a half at work e-mailing my friend back and forth with the most annoying song lyrics I could think of. I think the pinnacle was the 'Muppet Babies' theme song...

Date: 2008-06-18 01:48 pm (UTC)I have read HW but I have never picked up on that mostly because I am only familiar with newwho.
Have you read a Simon R. Green's Darkside series. There are numerous references to Doctor Who (and a whole slew of other things.) And I think there is a reference to the Doctor in his new book Man with a Golden Torc. The books can be dark but highly enjoyable.

Date: 2008-06-22 02:05 am (UTC)Oh, I didn't pick up on that either until I saw that post (which I'm kicking myself over - HW was the first book I read and my favorite out of all of the Young Wizards books). I'm a NewWho girl myself, started with Christopher Eccleston and went forward from there, although I have seen a small handful of classic episodes. Given that Five was the one from Time Crash as well, there was a certain thrill to learn that.
I'm not familiar with the Darkside series - what's it about?
Great to hear from you Bonnie!
